At D’Argentat, a diverse range of expertise and craftsmanship comes together, from designers and prototypists to cabinetmakers, upholsterers, and varnishers.

While each artisan is a master of their own specialty, they work in close collaboration, creating a harmonious symphony where form and ergonomics seamlessly align. Upholding the finest traditions of French cabinetmaking and upholstery, they craft furniture with exceptional precision and artistry, embodying the very essence of French savoir-faire.

Upholstery

Upholstery is D’Argentat’s founding craft, inherited from its founder, René Lapeyre. Building on this legacy, the upholstery workshop meets the expectations of a discerning clientele. Seamstresses, foam specialists and upholsterers work in concert to pad, cover and refine each seat, achieving the highest levels of comfort. Every gesture demands exceptional precision and patience; here, the tool is simply an extension of the hand.

Cabinetmaking

Cabinetmakers, seat makers and joiners come together within D’Argentat’s woodworking workshop. The atelier excels in working with solid oak and sophisticated veneers, drawing primarily on French species including oak, beech, local walnut, ash and hornbeam, alongside other fine and rare woods.

Bespoke Furniture

Bespoke making transforms raw materials into exceptional pieces of furniture, bringing a designer’s vision to life through the expertise of D’Argentat’s craftspeople. The workshop approaches even the most complex or unexpected requests with precision, ingenuity and an openness to experimentation.

Design Office

The design office provides architects, decorators and designers with a highly personalised service tailored to the requirements of each project. Every commission begins with a precise analysis of a sketch, an inspiration image or a 3D plan supplied by the client.

Our responsible approach

D’Argentat is committed to a responsible and considered approach to furniture making. To create pieces designed to endure, the workshop prioritizes exceptional-quality, low-impact materials that are carefully sourced. The wood it uses is predominantly French and locally sourced, and comes from PEFC-certified forests.

Logistics

D’Argentat’s site spans 35,000 m², including 6,000 m² of covered space. Three buildings are dedicated to furniture production, with additional areas devoted to wood drying and the storage and preparation of foams. The workshops themselves are organised into dedicated spaces for cabinetmaking, upholstery and packing.
